I'll never forget my first geography teacher at boarding school. On our first day, she asked us: "So, you kids familiar with Europe and its states, yet?" We all sort of looked at each other and sort of nodded. "Okay", she says, "sit apart now. Each of you gets a sheet of paper on which you draw Europe, then we'll compare your results".
Whoa. We SO failed!! (Apart from Italy. Everyone can do Italy :-p) But it was fun. We all had a good laugh and were ready to be taught big time after that...
Not sure if I could still do it now, though. Neither did I ever get all your states in one try - but I also never got taught properly. We're learning from the inside out. Canton, Switzerland, then outwards from there. I dropped out after the Mediterranean area :-).
