Friend J

Is off on an Africa Safari and has been for a number of days now. She's used to traveling the world with her sister and this trip she's emailing me pictures from their visits to animal sanctuaries.

I'm really liking the zebras. She sent one of a hyena lying in the gravel/dirt. I'm not a huge hyena fan. But I'll go review what she sent to see if there are others to post.

I'm really liking those zebras as well :-)! What a moment to capture!

Mr Lion sure looks a bit on the chubby side to me, though. A splendid example of a - what would you call them? Cognitively challenged animal :-p?

And I am having a bit of trouble believing the colours on that birdie. Have you taken any liberties with it at all? I mean, I'll believe "colourful". But not as in "Disney character". Or should I...?

My thanks to Judy and yourself for some more sun and blue skies :-D!

That's the bird's colors but I did put them through my software which the basics are color saturation to bring out the color, then I adjust the brightness and contrast, then resize it to be reasonable, then sharpen it, that's it. I'd like to know what kind of bird and how it sounds.

We have many, as in at least 10 days, of temps in the 90s coming our way. I'm kind of glad I don't have many plants in the yard to burn up. I've already established my pattern for keeping the house cool. Mornings I throw open all the windows and turn on just the fan to pull cool air from under the house. When I get to mid-seventies outside, I close everything up and turn on the A/C so it will get a head start on keeping the house cool when the temps reach 90. It's been late, like 9 p.m. before the A/C gets shut off and windows are thrown open again. I close them and only sleep with the bedroom window open and the ceiling fan going on high speed.

Gee, wasn't that just scintillating information?! My whole point there was that it's hot as hell right now.
I'm going to add a couple more pics to this post.

Awww - the hyena! I love those. Did I tell you I once met a guy with a hyena on a leash in St.Tropez? She looked almost as lazy as this one :-)! Adorable, they are.

Aside of this, you're being quite awfully cruel, you know?! We're freezing our bottoms off, here. Besides, there's rain, and more rain, only interrupted by violent thunderstorms now and then. Flooding in Germany, already. Only a question of time until we get some, as well...

90° sounds so bloody perfect, I could wail ;-)!

I'm not fond of them at all but I've never met one so I could be unreasonably biased. I felt more akin to the sunburned hippo, I think she should get in the water and stay there.

90s is too hot, 80s is too hot for me too. And not that I want the rain and cool temps back, but amidst all the heat yesterday was cloudy with a cool breeze all day. It was a nice break. I don't go outside much anyway so it's nice I now have A/C.

oh that zebra photo is *awesome*! And ditto on the birdie - SO colourful!

I don't envy you the 90 degree weather - I am perfectly happy with my 68-70 degree days, thank you very much. It gets over 80 at work, but I'm inside in the a/c - and by the time I get home, it's perfectly pleasant outside at my house :)

Yeah, I'm not sure why it's quite so hot. Weirder is that every third day is cloudy and cool. Kind of wish it would make up its mind. Cloudy again today.
